The 50th percentile sits at a strong 33<\/strong>. This demonstrates that Georgia Tech students excel in the English section of the ACT, with many achieving perfect or near-perfect scores. Of all students who enrolled at Georgia Tech in the fall of 2021, 35%<\/strong> submitted ACT scores, while 77%<\/strong> submitted SAT scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were no applicants who omitted standardized test scores from their applications, because Georgia Tech is not a test-optional school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may notice that the percentages add up to greater than 100, because some students submitted ACT and <\/em>SAT scores. The SAT remains a popular choice among admitted Georgia Tech applicants, with about twice as many students submitting the SAT instead of the ACT. Still, there is no preference for one standardized test over the other in scoring an acceptance letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georgia Tech evaluates the ACT by considering the applicant’s highest section scores on English, Math, Reading and Science respectively. Additionally, Georgia Tech allows applicants to select which test dates they want to submit scores from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I get into Georgia Tech with a low ACT?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Getting into Georgia Tech with a low ACT score is challenging, but not impossible, even though Georgia Tech is not test-optional. Even a score at the lower end of Georgia Tech’s score range would still be quite high: the lowest quarter of Georgia Tech scorers achieved up to a 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strong academic performance and extracurricular achievements play significant roles in the application process as well as test scores, though. Georgia Tech’s admissions officers conduct holistic reviews of applications. Thus, admissions officers consider other elements of students’ profiles in conjunction with test scores, including background, transcripts, and essays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When should I take the ACT for Georgia Tech?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For applicants in the Early Action 1 round, Georgia students only, the self-reported test score deadline<\/a> is November 20. This deadline shifts to January 2 for applicants in the Early Action 2 round (non-Georgia students only). For all applicants in the Regular Decision round, the self-reported test score deadline is January 17. Regardless, we recommend students take the ACT in their junior spring at the latest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Georgia Tech requires applicants to submit standardized test scores, strong scores will benefit an application. That said, the Georgia Tech admissions office conducts a holistic review of applications, so standardized test scores will not necessarily make or break an application.
