The average SAT score at UGA is around 1270 out of the maximum 1600. The 25th percentile SAT score is 1160, and the 75th percentile reaches 1390.

These statistics indicate that 25% of UGA students scored below a 1160, while 25% scored above a 1390. This range reflects the high standards of the institution but also demonstrates that there is no one score that applicants must achieve for admission.

We’ll review your essay

Receive edits in as little as 24 hours

LEARN MORECONSULTANTS FROM

What is the average SAT English score at UGA?

The SAT is divided into two sections: the English (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing) section and the Math section, each scored out of 800. UGA’s average SAT English score is 640. Meanwhile, the 25th percentile score sits at 590and 75th percentile score reaches 690.

Therefore, an SAT English score lower than 590 would place you in the lowest 25% of scorers. A score greater than 690 would place you in the highest quarter of UGA’s SAT English scores.

What is the average SAT Math score at UGA?

The average SAT Math score at UGA is 630. The 25th percentile of scores falls at 570, and the 75th percentile is 700.

These statistics evidence that the upper quarter of SAT Math scores at UGA hit 700 or higher. However, the majority of scores fall below this mark. Another 25% of SAT Math scores at UGA are 570 or below. Thus, there is no hard and fast expectation that applicants must reach a score over 700.

What are UGA’s SAT requirements?

For the foreseeable future, UGA requires applicants to submit standardized test scores. This means that for the upcoming admissions cycle, SAT or ACT scores are mandatory for First Year and Dual Enrollment applicants.

UGA allows applicants to self-report their SAT scores on their applications, but official scores must also be submitted electronically by the respective testing agency by the application deadline. UGA does not accept scores that appear on your high school transcript, nor will they consider paper reports.

Additionally, UGA does not require the SAT Essay and will not use SAT Essay scores in their review. For SAT Subject Tests, scores on file are evaluated for credit at the point the student has accepted an offer of admission. Read more about UGA’s Credit from Testing policy.

What percentage of UGA applicants submit the SAT?

Among students admitted to UGA, approximately 61% chose to submit SAT scores. In addition, approximately 38% submitted ACT scores. Because UGA is not test-optional, no students omitted scores.

From these statistics, we can see that the SAT remains a popular standardized test for admitted UGA applicants, with nearly twice as many students choosing the SAT as the ACT. Although UGA is no longer test-optional, these statistics still demonstrate the popularity of the SAT among UGA applicants. That said, the SAT and ACT are equally accepted. There is no disadvantage to choosing one test over the other.

Does UGA superscore the SAT?

UGA does superscore the SAT. This means that they take the highest individual score of each section from all test dates to calculate the highest composite score. This policy benefits applicants who have taken the SAT more than once and received better section scores on certain dates more than others.

What’s a good SAT score for UGA?

UGA does not have specific SAT score requirements or cutoffs, but the Board of Regents in Georgia does. To be specific, the SAT English score minimum is 480 and the SAT Math score minimum is 440. However, most admitted UGA students have standardized testing scores much higher than these benchmarks. The average SAT score is around 1270, so aiming for a score at or above the average would put you in a good position.

Learn more about UGA’s SAT expectations on their Admissions Tips, Hints, & Myths webpage.

Section

25th

50th

75th

Composite

1160

1270

1390

English

590

640

690

Math

570

630

700

Can I get into UGA with a low SAT score?

Getting into UGA with a low SAT score is challenging but possible. “Low” is a relative term; below-average scores for UGA are still competitive. Remember, although the SAT English score minimum is 480 and the SAT Math score minimum is 440, the average UGA admit scores well above these minimums.

The lower quartile SAT score at UGA is 1160. This means that UGA students in the lowest 25% scored at or below a 1160. Therefore, it is still possible to get into UGA with an SAT score below these measurements. Moreover, if you demonstrate strong academic and extracurricular performance, you can remain a competitive applicant.

When should I take the SAT for UGA?

For students planning to submit applications during their senior year, the best time to take the SAT is generally during the spring of their junior year. This timing allows for retakes if necessary.

That said, applicants seeking admission in the Early Action cycle must take their last SAT by October at the latest. For Regular Decision applicants, the last test date accepted is the December SAT. In order for your exam scores to be included in the evaluation process, you must request your scores to be sent to UGA by the respective application deadline.

What is UGA’s SAT code?

UGA’s SAT code for submitting official test scores is 5813.

Not only does UGA require its applicants to submit standardized test scores, but those who do and gain admission often have high scores. However, a lower score does not necessarily disqualify an applicant. In the end, applications are evaluated holistically by UGA. That said, scores play a significant part in the application process.
